Cheating?

I've been gone for a week. So sorry for no "Second Opinions"

A student in another state searching the internet came across a web site by a teacher in another state that puts assignments, notes, a calendar and practice test up for his students. The student in the other state used the practice test since it was the same text book and subject she was on. The student aced the test (made a 100 on it). The students teacher accused the student of cheating, (getting a copy of his test). The student was forced to tell the teacher how she passed the test and told him about the study test she found on the internet.

Need your opinion on: select the topic
--. Explain why this is or is not cheating.
--. Explain why the teacher should fail the student.
--. Explain why the teacher should give the student the grade she made.
--. Explain why the teacher in the other state should take down his web site or not?

  • I chose to do the one that says "Explain why this is or is not cheating" I don't thihk that this is cheating because number one STUDY tests are called STUDY tests for a reason, they are there to duh study! It wouldn't be any different than giving a study sheet or something like that, and she worked her butt off to be able to pass that one test, she should at least get an A for effort (that's so cheesy-lol-)

  • I don't think you should have to take off your website because that is not fair to us we should be able to us it when we want. So the teacher in Michigan should be happy for her just studing.

  • I think that the teacher should give the grade to the girl that she earned becauseshe was just studing their is nothing rong with that so she deserves the good grade.

  • hello! If the student is studying a test how is that cheating.I study tests to make a deacent grade.I think everyone studys practice tests. That is what I think.

  • The student is not cheating because she went and searched on the internet for studying resources and found some. I say if she found something on the internet and it helped her get a good grade then the teacher should not fail her. MOST students would not even make the effort to get on the internet unless they were absolutely required to. She should be able to keep her grade. The teacher in the other state should twist his head on tighter and see the reasonable side. Some kids won't even study, and if I was the teacher I would give her a 105.

  • I don't think that she was cheating at all. It is called a practice test for a reason. She deserves that grade because by taking that test she baiscly studied for it.

  • Explain why this is or is not cheating

This is not cheating because she went to the website to study trying to pass.

  • This is not cheating because she was trying to pass a test. I would have done the same thing if I were her. No, the teacher should not have to take off the website just because she used it as a resource to study for her test. If that was the case for everybody and everybody had to take their website off the internet, just because someone used it to help them study for a test, then the internet would be for nothing. It would have no value at all.

  • I think that the girl should get the grade she made because she worked to find a practice test. Obviosly her teachr doesn't exepect his students pass and asked you to take down your web site because he doesn't want them to pass. No, you should not take down your web site because you put it up there to help your students. Also, it sounds like the other teacher is not doing a very good job of teaching if he was so surprised that one of his students made a 100.

  • I don't think that it's cheating. The student obviously cared enough about her grade to search for help. This is not cheating because the teacher didn't put up the website purposely for some student in another state to study. The teacher shouldn't fail the student for knowing the material. The teacher in the other state should not take down their website because if students in other states are learning, then that is teaching the children of America and anywhere else that is learning.

  • I dont think it is so called "CHEATING" than it is studying. I mean we all have study pratice test to study for the real "TEST". Don't Teachers give out study test so they can "STUDY" for the real test.

  • I choose to pick " Is this cheating or not." I dont think this is cheating. 1. He/she may not of known that it was what the test looked like.m 2. The other teacher should not of put the test on the internet. Her students were CHEATING too. 3. It was to STUDY! thats what study notes are for.
