School to fingerprint each child

A plan to fingerprint students is meant to speed up the cafeteria lines. The scan will call up the student's name and student ID, teacher's name and how much the student owes.

What do you think of fingerprinting students for lunch? and why?

It's a great idea

It makes me nervous

I don't see a problem

  • I think this is a very good idea and could help a lot. But what happens when the power goes out?

  • I think that school cafeterias finger printing the children is a great idea! I think then all children will get a lunch, even if someone happens to take the childs lunch money because then he/she can just have a tab and pay it off once they get their bullying situation under control. I think this is a great way to verify children so that only the ones that go to the school can get lunch there. I don't know what would happen if the power went out though. The children wouldn't be able to have their finger scanned, therefore, not getting any lunch.

  • Great idea. Faster through the lines, positive identification (nor worries about students stealing account numbers and running up tabs), and no one has to keep up with money if they don't want to. :)

  • I think it's a great idea. I think this because it wil make the lines more faster, children wont have to bring money to school so there is a less chance of them loosing there money, or getting it stolen.

  • It’s a great idea but what if the power goes out or it crashes. Won’t they have to put in all the names again? But also what if the kid forgot how much money he owes and the person who is running the machine doesn’t know?
They should print off papers of all the student’s names and how much money they owe just incase and when the student buys another lunch just put that amount of money beside the other one and when it comes time to pay, they just add them up.

  • Hey,
I think this is a great idea I think this is so neat. I mean just imagine you wouldn’t have to stand there waiting and waiting. You could get to the line quickly go through the line sit down eat your lunch and quickly get back to your classes. I do think this will make some kids and there parents uneasy because if something happens to the machine or it looses its memories how is the cafeteria going to know what amount of money you need to pay for the school for your lunches, that would be the only concern I would have but besides that I think it is brilliant.

  • I think this is an excellent idea and could be very helpful! The cafeteria line would go much faster and the children would be guarenteed to have lunch, even if a bully steals it. But there's just one problem...what if the power goes out during lunch hour? Would the kids get no lunch then, or would there be a back-up plan??

Keep up the awesome blogging!! =]

  • I see no problem with it at all. I think it would be good but like ashley.m said it could crach or the power could go out and you'd be stuck.

  • Honestly, if the schools all have generators, then we should be fine if the power goes out. Fingerprints don't change and everybody has their own unique print. If it makes the schools safer, then I'm all for it. Hopefully then we wouldn't have as many attacks on schools. Metal detectors would be a good idea too. No knives, guns would get past it.
