No cross on Christmas decorations allowed!

Recently an elementary teacher gave each student a Christmas tree ornament (ball) to take home and decorate. The students decorated the ornament and then brought back to school to hang on the class Christmas tree. All the students were allowed to hang their decorated ball on the tree except one child. The teacher told her she could not hang her ball cause it had a cross on it.

What do you want to say about this?

  • I think it’s wrong to not include one child because of their religion. That teacher should be fired! Christmas is after all about God and Jesus. I like your blog because it makes people think about what’s going on out there and how much racism there actually is! Your blog also made me think about other things too.     Did the teacher even give the kid a reason why he couldnt hang up his ornament? This isn't fair, it probably made the kid feel left out and like he did something wrong. Also I think that ornaments should have crosses or whatever because afterall, is says that baby jesus was born on Christmas. Maybe the teacher disagrees with Christianity?

  • That is just NOT right, that little kid had the freedom of religion and they chose to put a cross on there and thats what the ENTIRE point of Christmas is and I mean if someone put something representing another religions holiday would that one not be allowed to?!?!?!?!? I think that if the kid wants to support their religion you should let them I mean dont turn it into a huge deal but let them support their religion GOSH!!

  • Wow, that is so rude! If that child wants to put a cross on the ornament they were decorating, I think they should most definitely be allowed, because Christianity is what they believe in! Just imagine how that child felt when the teacher said that they couldn't hang the ornament up...probably very left out and like they did something wrong. I don't know about you, but that's how I'd feel. Did the teacher even tell the child what they did wrong?!

    If that child wants to put a cross on the ornament, so be it. It's just the religion that they believe in and they should feel free to believe it without anyone else objecting.

  • I think that ornament would have been the prettiest one. People are trying to throw God out of everything. Go ahead keep trying, He's not going anywhere!!!!!!!

  • I think that teacher should be fired. It was like totally wrong and shouldn't be happening. I totally think that if that ever happened to me, I would tell my parents and I would asked to go to a different school or to get homeschooled because that is downright wrong and mean. The teacher should just leave. Like they shouldn't even be saying that. ITs stupid.

  • I think that is DUMB. because the cross is the whole reason fro Christmas. And it is a religion. They cant Help it. The teacher should not of asigned that if she wasnt gonna let them hang it as a project.......

    I think that is totally and completely wrong! That teacher needs to relize that other people have different religions and cultures and that its just a little kid! like wow when i read this it blew my mind and im only 12!

  • when i read this i FREAKED OUT!!!!
    that is wrong on sooo many levels,not only should a cross be allowed as a christmas decoration but the people that make rules against it should realize that christians are not going to stop believing in God just because they tell them to.
