Entitled to money cause of hurricane Katrinia?

Should anyone be entitled to receive money from the government for damages to their homes cause of hurricane Katrinia?

  • No, because if they wanted money then they should get off their lazy bottoms and get a job instead of waiting for someone to do something for them. My mom volunteered at Maud Cobb, with Katrina victims, and she was trying to get someone with nice handwriting and she asked someone to write the sign, and the lady said "no, I don't really feel like it." Plius if they do get money then they can go out a buy drugs or something, and get their selfs killed or hurt.

  • I think that no body should be entitled to receive money because of hurricane damage due to hurricane Katrina because the people wanting to get money chose to live there instead of somewhere else. There is no place on earth that is impervious to a natrual disaster. You just need to deal with the fact that you were unlucky and your house is now either under water or in pieces blown all around New Orleans. You could have lived anywhere else but you chose the wrong place to live at the wrong time.

  • No way! No one is entitled to anyghing from the government! The government is required to serve and protect, this was not aterrorist attack the are not required to protect us from a natural disaster! Besides, more than 5x the amount raised from last falls tsunami victims has already been raised for the private sector for katrina victims. If people feel like they want an insurance agenccy instead of a government, then the constitution must be rewritten or ammended to make us a socialist state.

  • maybe, I'm a Katrina victim, but I feel some people do need help. Everybody is not lazy. Jobs are very hard to fine. The government should help when a diaster takes place. For the persons who just say no because of negative views, Just think it could have been you. Remember that.

  • yes,I'm a Katrina victim. Not all people are lazy. People of all walks of life were affected and alot of people have children and the companies they worked for was wiped out. Unless you walk in our shoes you should not say anything . People have lost family members and everything they have worked their whole lives for. We went thru things that most people would never dream of. We pay insurance and taxes. I bet you never said that the people of Florida should not get help. You do not know that all the people are going to buy drugs with the money. Put yourself in our shoes. You saw the bad things on TV but, what about the people that took and left because they remember Betsy!! You did not see all the good. People that did not even know each other comming together. I meet people that was giving each other hugs telling each other how glad they was that they got out alive. And other people crying because the lost a love one. The people of New Orleans and surrounding areas have to live just like you have to live. I don't think you are a positive person to think so bad of the people. Just remember that there is good and bad people all over the world even where you live. New Orleans was a great city and will be again.

  • I think if that if your house or any of your items were swept away and or you are very ill and not just lazy then you should be able to recieve money.

  • No, they should not recieve money for damages to their homes. That's what insurance is for. Besides, if the government gave money out to everyone who "claimed" to be a victim, they would be broke. Take the recent events for example: one man claimed to be a victim of Katrina and it turns out that he wasn't. Who knows how many frauds there are in those shelters right now. Even though many of them ARE NOT frauds, they still should have the insurance to compensate them for lost property, etc. If they don't, it's not our problem.
