Why are we rude to others?

Why do some students (people) make fun of or ridicule other students?

  • I think some students make fun of others because that's what their friends are doing, and they don't want to feel left out. They might also be afraid that if they stand up for what is right, they will be made fun of also. They don't want this to happen, so they join in, when they know that they really shouldn't be. Although, sometimes people make fun of others because they might be jealous of that person. This person might have something everyone just loves, and you're jealous of them so you began to make fun of them for the littlest things, or maybe even something not true.

  • I think some students make fun of or ridicule others because they think it makes them look cool. Some people probably just do it for attention. I sometimes feel bad for people who get made fun of because I think about if I was in that position and if someone made fun of me. So I'm not sure why people do it, but I do know it's wrong. Some people don't deserve to get made fun of. God created us all equal. We might not all look alike or get good grades. We're not all pretty or popular but we should all be treated equal because we're all equal in God's eyes!

  • I think some students make fun of others because they think they are more popular than others. Popular people sometimes look down upon people that are at lower levels of popularity than they are. When people look down upon them, then they think that they are just nerds or somtething so they treat them unfairly. Sometimes students make fun of others because they are not as rich or they don't buy their clothes from certain places. I think people shouldn't care about how rich someone is or how popular they are or where they get their clothes. It's just how they live so treat them just like you would want them to treat you.

  • I think that certain students make fun of others because they are trying to make themselves feel better. They are doing what everyone else is doing because they feel that if they do not they will be left out. Sometimes people make fun of others because they are jealous of the person they are making fun of, because they may be prettier or everyone might like them more or because they are better at a certain sport. Making fun of people is kind of like a self defense mechinism as resa says.

  • I think that people make fun of other people because of being spoiled with too many good things and because of peer presure. Being popular in the first place is being rich and throwing parties. Then those people have friends that are pressured into laughing at others. My friends aren't the best looking or the coolest talkers, but I would rather defend them than laugh at them.

  • Some people feel obligated by their peers to mock other people. They either make fun of other people to fit in, or to get back at them for past grudges. Some people are brought up by rude guardian(s). So when they grow up they are rude to other people. If I ridicule somebody, they are usually my friends. I apologize if I make fun of someone other than my friends. My peers know that I am playing with them, so they are usually not hurt.

  • I think the reason we are rude to each other is because for some people it gives them a sense of self worth, that they feel in power over someone else, that if they have the ability to tease or be rude to some one else they kinda feel like they are in a higher status.

  • I think people make fun of other people because they want to be cool. Also they might make fun of other people because they have been made fun of. They might want to make themselves feel better than others. Sometimes people get jealous of others so they make fun of them. One other reason is because if someone likes someone else they might make fun of them so no one will know who they like.

  • Because the bully thinks there cool. Also they think it makes them popular. Bullys know its not cool but they dont care mabe there to dumb to know the difference

  • you guys are trotally right... I think there is a comparison to joking around, and true-ly meaning it. If someone says something like that to me it makes me feel lower in rank but I eventually get over it. Some of the reasons I think people make fun of other people is to make themselves feel stronger or higher in rank. Just think would you want to be there?

  • I believe some students make fun of other students because it makes them feel tough. They may also be taking anger out on other people because things at their home may not be okay. Their could be a lot of reasons why people are rude to one another. They may be rude because that is simply their nature or the way they are.

  • I think that people make fun of (or ridicule) other people because they think that they are better than them. They also might think that if their friends do it that they need to do it too. I believe people should be treated the way they act. I understand that we are equal in God's eyes, but everyone should get a taste of their own medicine weather it is good or bad.

  • I think some students make fun of or ridicule others because they think it is cool. I also think they are really jealous of them. Another thing is that they are probly being picked on and so the think it is write to pick on other people.

  • I think some students ridicule or make fun of other students because they think that they are cool. All it does when you make fun of somebody is make you also look bad. It hurts their feelings and it probably gets annoying to that person. If I was one to be ridiculed or made fun of it would bother me very badly.All I think it is wven if that person is not a nerd then they might be very JEALOUS!!!!!

  • I think people are rude to others because something is bothering them,like a family problem. That's why im rude to others sometimes. Also, they dont know how to express their feelings any other way.

  • I think they make fun because the kid they are probably weaker than others. Some people are stronger with words. For example, comebacks. They use those to hert peoples feelings, and to win every comeback copitition. Others hit the weak ones because if they were going to hit the big kids then they might be messing with the wrong people.
